- The fonds contains documents of the administrative and executive authority of the Moravian Provincial Diet - the Provincial Council - and is thus one of the most important Moravian historical fonds. Documents are divided into two basic groups: Documents of the actual Provincial Council from 1875-1928 (they also contain older materials), i.e. documents of the general department, and documents of the municipal department from 1922-1928. Documents of the Provincial Council are organised according to subject groups, of which attention should in particular be paid to call numbers “G” Municipal matters 1861-1922, call number “J” Cult matters 1747-1828, call number “N” Educational and cultural matters 1743-1928, relevant information may also be contained by other subject call numbers. The municipal department contains documents regarding administration of municipal self-governments in Moravia, which Jewish political communities also belonged to. The inventory specifically specifies the following Jewish political communities: Břeclav (among other things, it being impossible to distinguish property of the Jewish political community and the Jewish religious community) 1914-1928; Lednice 1919; Mikulov 1910-1917; Miroslav 1902-1921; Holešov 1909-1919; Pohořelice (among other things merger with the Christian community) 1886-1887, 1898-1902, 1919; Šafov 1909-1923; Třebíč 1927-1928; documents on merger of Jewish political communities and Christian communities Holešov 1919; documents of the town of Veselí nad Moravou also contain a documents on sale of plots of land of the sugar factory of Rudolf Auspitz with registered seat in Bzenec and Rohatec (Rohatetz-Bisenzer Zuckerfabriken Rudolf Auspitz).
- Archival history:
- Documents of the Provincial Council were stored with their creator according to subject call numbers on the basis of the original registry key, which remained valid for the whole period of existence of the office. After this was dissolved, it was administered in 1929-1945 by the Provincial Office, in 1945-1949 by the Provincial National Committee and in 1949-1950 by the Regional National Committee. In 1950, it was taken over by the Moravian Provincial Archives in Brno (at that time the State Archives in Brno) and an interim list of documents of the general department was drawn up in 1951, which included the original call numbers. Documents of the municipal department were arranged in 1980 and an inventory was compiled for them. This inventory also preserved the original call numbers of the municipal department.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- By means of the constitution of 26 February 1861, a new provincial order of the Margraviate of Moravia was issued and the activity of the Provincial Diet was renewed to a limited scope. The Provincial Council was created as the administrative and executive authority of the diet and it was chaired by the Provincial Head Officer. The Provincial Council in fact took over the agenda of the former Estates Provincial Council (see fonds A 8 Provincial Registry Office). The sphere of competence of the Provincial Council did not in principle change even after creation of Czechoslovakia, when by means of an act in 1919 only regulation of appointment of members of the committee elected to date was performed. The activity of the Provincial Council ended on 1 December 1928 in relation to the administrative reform implemented in Czechoslovakia.
