- Archival history:
- Many of the documents from the old chateau registry were burnt during the reconstruction of the chateau in 1855. In 1910-1914 Leopold Nopp, the director of the Strážnice Bürgerschule (public schools), arranged the archives. After 1945 the estate archive was taken to the Agricultural-Forestry Archives in Bučovice, in 1957 it was transferred to the State Archives in Kroměříž, whence it was taken to the State Archives in Brno in 1967 (today the Moravian Provincial Archives in Brno). Here it was arranged and inventoried in 1968.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Strážnice manor was originally held by a territorial lord. From the beginning of the 14th century it was held by noble houses. At the start of the 17th century Strážnice came under the Magnis family, who with the exception of a few years held it up to the end of the Second World War. Following the liberation the estate was confiscated and put under national administration. There was a large Jewish community on the estate in Strážnice.
