- The fonds includes documents of the self-government and minutes of meetings of the municipal committee and the board, since 1919 called the municipal council and the municipal board. Valuable information on the history of the municipality can be found in a report on the situation in Heřmanice after the annexation of its parts by Poland in 1938. There is information on the history of Jews contained in a single inventory unit which includes ordinances and orders of the Police Directorate in Ostrava as well as documents of the Frýdek District Office that describe the everyday life and movements of the Jewish population in 1939-1941. Furthermore, the fonds includes minor correspondence of the Jewish Religious Community of Prague concerning the emigration of Jews.
- Archival history:
- The documents were handed over in parts to the Municipal Archives in Moravská Ostrava, first from the cancelled Municipal Office of Heřmanice in 1941-1944. Other transfers took place in 1978 and 1988, and the fonds was added to for the last time in 1991.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The first record of Heřmanice dates from 1305. From the early 16th century Heřmanice was part of the Polish-Ostrava manor, remaining in possession of the Family of Wilczek until 1848. Until 1941 there were self-governing bodies in Heřmanice. In 1941, the municipality was merged with Moravská Ostrava and began to be administered by the Municipality of Moravská Ostrava. In 1850-1855, Heřmanice was part of the political district of Frýdek and the judicial district of Bohumín. In 1855-1868, Heřmanice was part of the Bezirksamt (political and judicial district office) of Bohumín. In the period of 1918-1939 the municipality of Heřmanice was part of the political district of Frýdek and the judicial district of Slezská Ostrava.
