- Archival history:
- After liberation of Brno in 1945 the Registry of the German School Board, also containing the materials of its predecessors, remained under the administration of the Czech City School Committee, and in 1950 was taken over by the Brno City Archives. In 1970-1971 some files in the fonds were appraised and the fonds was arranged.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- In December 1906 the Brno School Department was split into a separate School Department and a separate German District School Committee (and in parallel also a separate Czech District School Committee). During the period 1921-1923 the creator’s documents of the School Department were deposited together with those of the Czech District School Committee, but in 1923 the two were again split. The Nazi administration of the City of Brno in 1939 abolished this entity as well as the School Department, and substituted the two with a German School Board (1939-1945), which was abolished after the end of World War 2. Its competencies applied first only within the boundaries of the Brno cadastre set prior to 1919, later to the entire Greater Brno area in accordance with law, and eventually also to Líšeň, which became a part of Brno in 1944.
