Collection of Vedutas and Printed Matters

Scope and content:: The core of the archive fonds are vedutas on printed matters of firms which have a relationship to Brno as well as a few from outside Brno. It contains material from companies with Jewish proprietors, namely: Ascher & Redlich-stationery and painting material (1903, 1908); Blum, Leopold-Linoleum-Industrie, Brno branch (1907–1931); Eisler & spol. (1939); Fischmann, B. &spol.-concrete structures business, manufacture of cement products, artificial stone and building material (1929–1939); Friedmann Em. Jac. & Brüder-paper mill (1904); Singer, Max, Ing.-electrical engineering works (1931); Wiesner, Hubert &spol.-manufacture and sales of building material (1930–1948). Furthermore, found in the fonds can be vedutasof some Jewish firms, e.g.: Auspitz, L.-manufacture of textiles (b. d.); Brüder Stiassni-weaving plant (b. d.); Hecht, D.-manufacture of woollen goods (b. d.); Herzfelder, S. L. Sohn-k. k. priv. Oelfabrik (b. d.); Aron & Jacob Löw Beer‘s Söhne (b. d.) and other.

Archival history:: The collection was established in 1996 from internal appraisal of fonds deposited in the Brno City Archives. Part of the archival materials was recorded in a list of firms’ vedutas compiled in 1996; in 2010 the list was completed and a desk card file of firms was added to the fonds.

System of arrangement:: The fonds content is divided into four groups: 1. Printed material and leaflets of Brno firms, 2. Firms’ vedutas and illustrations with Brno motif, 3. Printed material and leaflets of firms from outside Brno, 4. Vedutas and illustrations of firms from outside Brno.
