- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains a register of the Jewish Religious Community of Milevsko (1707–1840), community statutes (1896, ca. 1930), meeting minutes, personnel records, financial records, records relating to the construction of the local synagogue, fragmentary documents of the burial society (chevra kadisha), other associations and a Jewish school, and records of the affiliated community of Klučenice. It also contains a cash book and documents of the burial society of the Milevsko community and a cash book of the burial society of Klučenice, which were kept until 1940.
- Archival history:
- The records were incorporated into the archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague during the Second World War as part of shipments of material from Jewish religious communities that had been disbanded.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Jewish settlement in Milevsko is documented from the 17th century. A Jewish religious community was also in existence there at that time. It incorporated the area of the disbanded Jewish religious communities of Bernartice and Klučenice in 1931 and 1932 respectively. The community was disbanded by the Nazis during the Second World War and did not subsequently resume its activities.
