- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains the statutes of the Jewish Religious Community of Klatovy (1896, 1901, 1924), meeting minutes, community membership list, correspondence, financial records, registers of synagogue seats, registers and files of the burial society (chevra kadisha), registers of a Jewish school, financial registers, and registers of the Jewish school of the affiliated community of Švihov. The fonds also contains a register of synagogue seats and the financial records of the burial society (chevra kadisha), which were kept until the period of Nazi Occupation.
- Archival history:
- The records were incorporated into the archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague during the Second World War as part of shipments of material from Jewish religious communities that had been disbanded.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- A small Jewish settlement in Klatovy is documented in the 14th century. A Jewish religious community was established there in 1867 (officially in 1871). It incorporated the area of the disbanded Jewish religious communities of Kolinec and Kdyně in 1926 and 1930 respecitvely. The community was disbanded by the Nazis during the Second World War and did not subsequently resume its activities.
