- The records were incorporated into the archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague during the Second World War as part of shipments of material from Jewish religious communities that had been disbanded.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Jewish settlement in Hořovice is documented in the mid-15th century. Jews were not allowed to live in the town from the 16th century until the middle of the 19th. A Jewish religious community was established there in 1875, having separated from the religious community of Praskolesy. It was disbanded by the Nazis during the Second World War and did not subsequently resume its activities.
