- The fonds contains photographs of Emil Davidovič and fragmentary documents (particularly correspondence).
- Archival history:
- The material was donated to the Jewish Museum in Prague by Emil Davidovič's daughter, Alice Lutwak, in 1999. Additional material was donated between 2010 and 2013.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Emil Davidovič was born in Khust, Sub-Carpathian Ruthenia (now Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine) on 30 December 1912. He attended a yeshivah in Bratislava and read philosophy, sociology and German studies at Masaryk University in Brno. In 1944 he was deported to Auschwitz. From 1946, after returning from the concentration camps, he held the post of secretary of the Jewish Religious Community of Rumburk and was also active in the newly established Jewish Religious Community of Varnsdorf. From 1953 he was the regional rabbi for the rural districts of Prague, Pilsen, České Budějovice and Pardubice. In 1962 he left for Israel and later moved to West Germany, where he served as chief rabbi of Westfalen-Lippe in Dortmund. He died on 16 January 1986.
