- Archival history:
- The records were created due to the activities of the Jewish Museum in Prague and its predecessors. A small amount of documents relating to the activities of the pre-war Association for the Founding and Maintenance of a Jewish Museum in Prague have also been preserved; they were taken over by the Jewish Community of Prague in 1940 and subsequently by the Central Jewish Museum, which was set up by the Nazi authorities. After the end of the Second World War, the records of the museum's predecessors were placed in the joint care of the Jewish Community of Prague and the Council of the Jewish Community of Prague. In 1950 the records were transferred to the State Jewish Museum in Prague. Since 1994 the fonds has been part of the archives of the privately-owned Jewish Museum in Prague. The museum's administrative documents are transferred to the archives on an ongoing basis.
