- Jewish settlement in Fryštát is documented from the beginning of the 18th century. A Jewish prayer association was established there in 1871 as part of the Jewish Religious Community of Těšín. It became a separate religious community in 1893. The community was disbanded after the annexation of the Sudetenland by Nazi Germany in 1938 but resumed its activities for a while after the Second World War, with its base in the town of Orlová.
