- The fonds contains memoirs, theological studies and sermons, studies on the history of the Jews in Moravia and on Jewish history in general, as well as studies on literary history and musicology.
- Archival history:
- The records were incorporated into the archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague during the Second World War as part of shipments of material from Jewish religious communities that had been disbanded.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Dr. Max Grünfeld (born 27 December 1856 in Kroměříž, died 7 June 1933 in Brno) was a teacher and rabbi. He studied philosophy, history and geography at the University of Vienna and attended Beth Hamidrash seminars in Vienna. From 1884 to 1887 he taught religion in Olomouc; from 1887 to 1916 he taught at German secondary schools in Brno. From 1920 he taught Jewish and world history at the Jewish secondary school in Brno, where he was active until 1930. In Brno he served as deputy chief rabbi. He was also a prolific journalist and an author of stories set in the Moravian ghetto in the early period of emancipation.
