- Archival history:
- The records were incorporated into the archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague during the Second World War as part of shipments of material from Jewish religious communities that had been disbanded.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The association was founded in 1926. It brought together all of the Jewish communities in the Greater Prague area, i.e. apart from the Jewish Religious Community of Prague and Jewish communities in suburban areas of Prague (Karlín, Vinohrady, Libeň, Michle, Smíchov, Žižkov). The Jewish communities of České Budějovice and Pilsen were also members. As membership of the other two associations of Jewish communities in Bohemia was based on having either Czech or German as the official language, the Prague association (which had two official languages-Czech and German) was set up as a separate organisation. Having two official languages, the members of the Prague association were unable to join either of the other two associations. This was also the case for several other communities, which were able to join the Prague association as associate members.
- System of arrangement:
- The fonds contains books and files that are arranged thematically by individual item: books and files relating to the association's activities, files relating to heritage matters, publication-related files financial management books and files.
