- The records came to the archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague during the Second World War as part of shipments of material from Jewish communities and organisations that had been disbanded.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Klausen Synagogue was built on the site of a smaller house of prayer, ritual bath and school (collectively called “Klausen”), which were founded by Mordecai Maisel in the 1560s. The building was completed in 1694. The synagogue was used as a place of worship by the Prague Burial Society. The west section of the building was extended and the external facade was altered during its reconstruction by architect Bedřich Münzberger in 1883–1884. The building was used by the Central Jewish Museum in Prague during the Second World War. The interior was restored after the war. It now houses one of the Jewish Museum's exhibitions.
