- The records were incorporated into the archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague during the Second World War as part of shipments of material from Jewish religious communities that had been disbanded.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Jewish settlement in Česká Lípa is documented from the 16th century. According to information from tombstones, there was probably a Jewish religious community in existence there from the middle of the 17th century. A major pogrom occurred in in Česká Lípa in 1744 during the Second Silesian War. The religious community was disbanded after the annexation of the Sudetenland by Nazi Germany in 1938 but resumed its activities after the Second World War.
