- Administrative/biographical history:
- A small Jewish settlement in Toužim is documented from the first half of the 16th century. It was not until the middle of the 19th century that a larger number of Jewish families were allowed to live in the town. The Jewish religious community was based in Útvin (Uitwa) until it relocated to Toužim in 1870. The community was disbanded after the annexation of the Sudetenland by Nazi Germany in 1938 and did not resume its activities after the Second World War.
