- Administrative/biographical history:
- Jewish settlement in Sokolov existed from the 16th century, but it was not until the middle of the 19th century that it significantly increased in size. A prayer association (part of the Jewish Religious Community of Krásná Lípa–Kostelní Bříza) was probably established there in 1861, becoming a separate community before 1873. The community was disbanded after the annexation of the Sudetenland by Nazi Germany in 1938. It resumed its activities after the Second World War with its seat in Kraslice.
