- Scope and content:
- This fonds contains the community's statutes including amendments (1865–1896), protocol registers, meeting minutes, election records, personnel records, authority notifications, various correspondence, financial and tax files, synagogue seats records, documents relating to the construction of a synagogue, a list of synagogue objects, the 1898 statutes and records of the local burial society, burial lists, and fragmentary files relating to the local Jewish school and several Jewish associations. The fonds also includes a large collection of documents from 1939–1945 relating to the racial persecution of the Jewish population: circulars, decrees and ordinances, registration of the Jewish population, work assignment records, registration and surrendering of Jewish property, travel permits, and files on emigration and deportation. There are also materials relating to the affiliated community of Kralupy nad Vltavou: meeting minutes, correspondence and fragmentary files, including burial society records (burial lists maintained until 1942).
- Archival history:
- The records were incorporated into the archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague during the Second World War as part of shipments of material from Jewish religious communities that had been disbanded.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The small medieval Jewish settlement of Slaný was disbanded following the expulsion of Jews in 1458. A more prominent settlement emerged there in the middle of the 19th century. A prayer association was founded in 1861, which became an independent religious community probably as early as 1865. This community existed until the Nazi occupation. The independent Jewish Religious Community of Kralupy was affiliated to the Slaný community in 1932.
