- The fonds contains the statutes of the Jewish Religious Community of Polná (1872), filing registers, minute meetings, election records, personnel files, official memoranda, correspondence, financial records, documents relating to the rebuilding of the local synagogue, registers of synagogue seats, a Hazkara, statutes and records of the burial society (chevra kadisha), and fragmentary material relating to various Jewish associations and institutions.
- Archival history:
- The records were incorporated into the archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague during the Second World War as part of shipments of material from Jewish religious communities that had been disbanded.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Jewish settlement in Polná is documented from the first half of the 16th century. It expanded considerably in the 18th and 19th centuries, when Polná was the seat of the regional rabbinate. A religious community existed there, at the latest, from the first half of the 17th century. The community was disbanded by the Nazis during the Second World War and did not subsequently resume its activities.
