- Administrative/biographical history:
- A small Jewish settlement in Podbořany is documented from the second half of the 18th century. The number of Jews living there rapidly increased after 1860. The seat of the Jewish community in neighbouring Letov (Letau) was transferred to Podbořany in 1870. The local community was known as the Jewish Religious Community of Podbořany–Letov until 1893. The previously separate community of Široké Třebčice (Weiten-Trebetitsch) was attached to that of Podbořany in 1929. The Podbořany community was disbanded after the annexation of the Sudetenland by Nazi Germany in 1938. It did not resume its activities after the Second World War.
