- The collection contains a copy of the "Childhood Memory" and an interview which Hester Tierney gave at the AfZ in autumn 2001 during a visit to Switzerland.
- Archival history:
- The contact with the AfZ (Archives of Contemporary History) came about through Hester Tierney’s daughter Gabriella Naidu.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Hester Tierney was born in Lindau on 5 March 1921. Her father was William Schwabacher and her mother Lia, née Krampff. She had three siblings named Brigitte (1922), Adolf (1925) and Kai (1928). The family emigrated to Switzerland (Ruvigliana, TI) at an unspecified point in time. In 1943, Tierney married Carlo Petralia, with whom she had four children. In 1972, the couple divorced and in 1980 she married Jim Tierney and moved to the USA.
