- Administrative/biographical history:
- Max Solevicz, an engineer, was born in Zurich on 2 October 1910 and died in St. Gallen on 20 September 2003. His parents were of Jewish-Polish origin; he had three older siblings. Solevicz studied engineering and graduated in Poland since his parents had returned there in 1930. He was a political prisoner for six years in the concentration camps Türkheim, Auschwitz, Riederloh and Burgau. He was liberated in Dachau and returned to Switzerland; here he had problems with the immigration authorities since he did not have a Swiss passport. He was employed as an engineer at the Saurer company in Arbon and was naturalised in 1960.
