- The collection mainly contains biographical documents such as biographical sketch, autobiographical reviews and appreciations as well as memorial albums on Alfred Ledermann’s work with young people from the Buchenwald concentration camp.

- The collection was transferred to the AfZ in 2007.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Alfred Ledermann was born in Basel on 11 September 1919. He studied law at the University of Basel and earned his doctorate in 1944. In 1945, he took care of young people from Buchenwald for the SRC children's aid organisation and from 1945 to 1947 he worked for the Schweizer Spende (Swiss donation) in Gelsenkirchen and elsewhere. From 1958 to 1979, he was central secretary of Pro Juventute.
