- The collection contains material on the Swiss Relief Organisation for Children of Emigrants (Schweizer Hilfswerk für Emigrantenkinder, SHEK), on the relief work in Greece as well as biographical and family history documents on the persecution of the Jews. It also includes Liselotte Hilb’s private correspondence with relatives who were murdered by the Nazis in Treblinka and Sachsenhausen.

The collection was transferred to the Archives of Contemporary History (AfZ) in several deliveries between 1992 and 2018.
Liselotte Hilb handed over materials on aid to Greece to the Swiss Social Archives in Zurich and the Archives of the Swiss Red Cross in Bern. Further documents on the SHEK can be found in the Federal Archives in Bern.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Liselotte Hilb, a social worker and refugee aid worker, was born in Zurich on 10 July 1921. She attended schools in Zurich and served actively in the "Frauen-Hilfsdienst" (FHD) between 1941 and 1945. From 1940 to 1948, she worked for the Swiss Relief Organisation for Children of Emigrants (Schweizer Hilfswerk für Emigrantenkinder, SHEK) in Zurich and in 1950/51 she was a delegate of the "Schweizer Europahilfe" and the "Schweizerisches Arbeiterhilfswerk" in Western Macedonia (Greece). From 1952 to 1958, she was on the founding board and secretariat of the Swiss children's village "Kirjath Jearim". Together with Walter Robert Corti she was involved in “Welthandel der Kinder”. From 1956 to 1959, Hilb was a delegate of the Swiss Red Cross Children's Aid of Western Macedonia and Epirus (Greece) and from 1958 to 1965 she was the head of the "Care and Counselling Centre for Tumours", which was under the auspices of the "Cantonal Zurich League for Combating Cancer". From 1965 to 1969, Hilb was the head of the Women's Professions Department of the "Bund Schweizerischer Frauenverbände" in Zurich. In 1966/67, she trained as a career adviser at the Institute for Applied Psychology in Zurich; between 1970 and 1973 she was deputy head of the Women's Department of the Zurich Municipal Employment Office and Head of the Part-time Employment Agency. From 1971 to 1989, Hilb was a member of the Foreign Employment Agency of the "Schweizerischer Verein der Freundinnen junger Mädchen" and from 1973 to 1985 she worked as a social worker and employment mediator at the "Rheumaliga des Kantons Zürich”.
