In the Pertinence Archive, which contains the Cantonal Administration since 1803, there are numerous documents of interest from a Jewish point of view in the sub-division Government Council of section M General Cantonal Affairs. For example, a submission from the Württemberg Oberamtsgericht Oberndorf (higher regional court of Oberndorf) in 1831 concerning the trading house “Kölliker, Wieland & Comp.“ in Thalweil and the Jewish merchant Elias Schweizer of Mühringen. In 1832, the Jew Jacob Ris (Riß) from Lengnau applied for an officer's position, and the canton consulted the canton of Aargau about this matter. As can be read in another document, Ris was finally rejected. In the same year, the Grand Ducal-Baden government of the Seekreis applied for the repeal of a law prohibiting Jewish cattle trade. A requisition from 1835 of the Sardinian legation concerns the Jew Raphael Debenedetti.
From 1836, there are some documents detailing the residence permit for Jews in the City of Zurich, Samuel Nordmann of Hegenheim in Alsace. From the year 1837, there are some documents concerning the expulsion of Ida Szent Gyorgi, wife of the Jew Aldinger. Several files regarding similar cases exist, for example, a document from 1838 of the Zurich City Council, which appealed against a decision of the Zurich District Council concerning the granting of a settlement permit to Moses Schleisinger of Strassburg. One year later, Isak Raphael Pollack of Ober-Endingen received a settlement permit. This was followed by further settlement permits and an extensive debate on this issue. In a letter from 1839, the government of Aargau again requested to extradite a Jew named Jacob Braunschweig of Lengnau.
In 1840, the French legation submitted an application for the registration certificate of the Jew Bernhard Dietisheim. In 1851, the Church Council again asked whether and under what conditions the marriage of a ‘Jewess’ to a citizen of the Canton of Zurich was permissible. A request for extradition from the criminal court concerning Emanuel and Joseph Blum from 1852 also exists. In 1877, the Israelitischer Kultusverein Zürich applied for state support. Since 1890s, the number of name changes of Jews in the canton increased, which was primarily related to actual or alleged disadvantages on the labour market and anti-Semitism. Numerous files on this subject can be found in this collection.
Documents on Israelite schools, cemeteries, nursing homes and other institutions belonging to Zurich's growing Jewish community at the turn of the century are also part of this collection. Numerous documents deal with the subject of flight and expulsion between 1939 and 1945.

- Archival history:
- The collection was probably gradually transferred to the State Archive.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The State Archive of Zurich is the archive of the Swiss Canton of Zurich and its legal predecessors, in particular the City State of Zurich. The historical holdings of the State Archive date back to the year 853 - the founding charter of the Fraumünster is the oldest surviving document - and have a significance that extends far beyond the canton. The continuity of tradition is considered remarkable, thanks to the absence of major catastrophes and wars. For example, the series of governmental minutes (Small Council and Grand Council), with few gaps, dates back to the early 14th century. The more recent holdings of the Canton of Zurich (since 1831) form the bulk of the archive holdings in terms of quantity, comprising some 30 kilometres of files and documents, to which a few terabytes of electronic data material are added.
