- In this collection there is one document of interest. It dates from 1974 and commemorates the planting of the "New Basel Forest" in Byria-Dalton, in the area of Safed (Israel). The forest was "planted by the population of the city of Basel and its region”. [Staatsurkunde 1974 Oktober 10]
- Archival history:
- The collection "Regesten der Staatsurkunden" does not only comprise the registers of the series of state documents (signature: "Staatsurkunden, [date of issue]"), but also registers of numerous other documents in the holdings of the Older Main Archive and the Older Subsidiary Archives as well as private archives, each of which bears the signature of the respective collection. The collections of this archive came into the possession of the State Archive at different times.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The oldest document in the State Archive, a monastery charter, dates back to 1098. The city archive was destroyed in the Basel earthquake of 1356. Since then, administrative activities have been closely preserved in most areas. The online archive catalogue offers numerous research options. Selected photographic and film documents as well as some 420,000 pages of written documents can be viewed online via the archive catalogue. The collection holds official documents documenting the coexistence of Jews and Christians in Basel.
