- The collection contains the documents of the criminal court of the canton of Basel Landschaft from 1832 to 1960. The collection contains two files from the criminal court that are relevant from a Jewish perspective. One file deals with conflicts with minorities (including Jews) that occurred between 1894 and 1954. Among other things, the collection contains files that provide direct references to these conflicts. The other file contains criminal and plenary appeals from the period between 1832 and 1960, which, among other things, deal with the theft of Jewish refugee property from a duty-free warehouse. - The documents in this collection were gradually transferred to the State Archive.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- With the separation of the cantons in 1833, the holdings of the Basel State Archive was also divided between the two half-cantons as part of the common state property. Negotiations on the division of the archives lasted until the summer of 1834. Between 1911 and 1927 the files from 1832 onwards were reorganised, thus creating the so-called "Newer Archives". A new set of archive regulations consolidated this new order in 1926.
