- Scope and content:
- The collection contains documents of the canton of Basel-Landschaft since about 1950. In terms of Jewish history, contains an interesting file, namely a 1944 report by the employment office, which, among other things, speaks of a “fiasco“ regarding Jewish refugees and states that “this race“ is not suitable for “any kind of work“. - Archival history:
- The documents in this collection were gradually transferred to the State Archive.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- With the separation of the cantons in 1833, the holdings of the Basel State Archive was also divided between the two half-cantons as part of the common state property. Negotiations on the division of the archives lasted until the summer of 1834. Between 1911 and 1927 the files from 1832 onwards were reorganised, thus creating the so-called "Newer Archives". A new set of archive regulations consolidated this new order in 1926.
