- Administrative/biographical history:
- The State Archive of Appenzell Innerrhoden is the central repository of the written records of the canton's public bodies and other bodies such as associations, corporations, companies etc. As one of the canton's documentation centres, it provides information on the history of the canton from the middle of the 12th century to the present day, taking into account data protection. The State Archive also houses the Common Archive of the two Appenzell cantons, which contains documents up to the division of land in 1597. The New Archive holds mainly official documents starting from the Act of Mediation in 1803 to the 1970s.
