The collection “Inventories” is a non-Jewish collection with a small number of Jewish-related references. It covers the period from about 1400 to 1900 and is divided into Series A to E. The “Inventories” include different registers of the movable property of territorial offices or bodies of Further Austria and Austria Superior (Series A). Furthermore, it contains property registers of fortresses, churches and monasteries (Series B and C) as well as estate inventories of dukes and aristocrats (Series D) and commoners, such as citizens and farmers (Series E). (Cf. Beimrohr, Das Tiroler Landesarchiv und seine Bestände, 62.) One may find for example inventories of movable properties such as armaments (of territories, castles, villages and cities) as well as private properties and estates of Tyrolean nobilities, e.g. clothing, jewels, gems, adornments, silverware and works of art such as paintings and sculptures. Moreover, this collection contains different inventories of libraries, chapels and churches and territorial agencies as well as inventories of custom offices which include books, correspondence and various other records.
As regards the Jewish interest in this collection, one inventory in Series E is in the form of a small booklet which includes a list of predominantly Jewish property, estates and pawn tickets from the 16th century. This register is divided into short consecutively numbered abstracts, which list the different kinds of property and pawns of individuals.
- Archival history:
- This collection was transferred to the Tyrolean Regional Archive as part of the regular document transfer process stipulated by national archival regulations.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The collection “Inventories” is based on documents of the Territorial Chamber (“Hofkammer”). In the interwar period, inventories of territorial archives, monasteries and courts were added to it. Occasionally some inventories of other collections of the Tyrolean Regional Archive were also added.

Series A, B and C include inventories of territorial bodies, monasteries and churches, D those of aristocrats and E those of citizens and farmers. Some estate inventories of private persons are located in courts, for example in Kitzbühel and Steinach. In addition, the collection “Manuscripts” also includes some inventories.
- Access, restrictions:
- Public access
- Finding aids:
- Finding aid: Rep. B 244a. NB: Most of the catalogues of the Tyrolean Regional Archive include not only content registers but also subject indices. These can be searched for terms such as “Juden” (“Jews”), “Judentum” (“Judaism“), “Judenschaft” (“Judaism”), “Israeliten” (Israelites) and “Hebräer” (Hebrews). Usually there are numbers next to the entries concerning Jewish matters, which are needed to find the records in the register. The next step is to look up the number in the content registers to get a first impression of the written sources. Documents of interest can be ordered with their reference number for further consultation.
