The collection of the parish of Rankweil is very small. It contains a fascicle entitled “Altkatholiken, Juden und Lutheraner” (Old Catholics, Jews and Lutherans). This fascicle includes a letter written on 9 February 1700 by a priest, who expresses his concern about the Jewish community. He fears that the cohabitation of Jews and Christians might be bad for the spiritual wellbeing of the Christians, especially the children.

- Archival history:
- The archival history of this collection is unknown.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Today there are over 100 Catholic parishes in Vorarlberg, where Catholicism is by far the most numerous religious denomination. In 1700, the Catholic Church was even more dominant than it is today. The Jews of Hohenems suffered under the distrust of the Catholic clergy and Catholic laymen. In 1781, most of the Christian denominations were made equal before the law, but the Jews of Austria had to wait longer. In 1867, the Austrian Jews gained the same rights as their Christian fellow citizens.
