The collection “Landgericht Feldkirch” (District court of Feldkirch) holds five documents of interest. They are to be found under the signature Präsidiale (presidential; in terms of presidium of the court): Nr. 28, Nr. 182, Nr. 189, Nr. 234 and Nr. 624.
The first file (Nr 28) contains a letter of the commissioner general of the Illerkreis (the district Vorarlberg was part of during the Bavarian time between 1805 and 1814) from 1810 that regulates the selling of meat by Jews. The second file (Nr 182) contains a protocol (including a voluminous correspondence) of a case that took place in 1810 against the merchant Herz Löw Lämmle about the selling of leather. The third file (Nr 189) contains the correspondence from 1810 between Lazar Josef Levi and a citizen of Augsburg called Biolley about a bill of exchange. The fourth file (Nr 234) contains a personal description of an unnamed Jew from 1810. The sought-after Jew spoke “Jüdische Mundart” (Jewish dialect, i.e. Yiddish). The fifth file contains a debenture of Bermann Levi from 1810 and the associated newspaper article.
