- The Gymnasium (high school) Antonianum in Vechta was founded in 1719. It is named after St. Anthony of Padua and is the oldest Gymnasium of the Catholic Oldenburg Münsterland. It dates back to a one-class Latin school, first documented in 1652, which the Franciscan convent had founded shortly after settling there. In 1719 it was elevated to a full high school.
