- This personal estate contains excerpts and notes on trade and commerce in the city of Oldenburg, including Jews.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Ludwig Strackerjan was appointed judicial councillor in Oldenburg in 1865. In December 1872, he left the civil service to become a legal member of the board of directors of the Oldenburg Savings and Loan Bank. Strackerjan had also been involved in state and local politics since the 1860s. Representing the right wing of the Liberals, he was a member of the Oldenburg City Council. He was a member of the Oldenburg State Parliament from 1860 to 1869 and from 1878 to 1879, serving as its president during the second period. In addition to articles dealing with popular culture and regional history in newspapers and magazines, Ludwig Strackerjan also wrote stories about Oldenburg as well as literature for children. His father, Christian Friedrich, was also a lawyer, author and historian.
