- Archival history:
- Kunstenbach’s estate essentially comprises a collection of files (originals and copies) on Jever's history, originally owned by the authorities (cf. Collection 90), as well as Kunstenbach's writings on the history of Jeverland. The library of the Mariengymnasium Jever probably holds further records, see also the manuscript XI Ca 30, Hs.-Slg. No. 432.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Renke Gerhard Kunstenbach, born on 4 April 1745 in Neustadt-Gödens, died in 1807; an accountant and scribe in Jever, was employed in Jever from 1783 as a chamber clerk, from 1787 as an accountant for the lottery and from 1797 as a district court clerk and recorder for forced sales and annotations. He was also artistically gifted and drew a series of views ("brochures") of the demesne of Jever in 1788-89. In 1797, he created a (now lost) directory of the sovereign's files in his possession.
