- The collection contains the complaint of the Cloppenburg officials addressed to the bishop in Münster on various acts against Jews; mode of dues and contributions of the Jews in the administrative district of Cloppenburg.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- In 1667 the Bishop of Münster acquired from the Bishop of Osnabrück the diocesan sovereignty over the administrative districts of Vechta and Cloppenburg. They were ceded to the Duchy of Oldenburg based on the Principal Decree of the Imperial Deputation (Reichsdeputationshauptschluss) in 1803 and 1817 respectively.
