This collection reflects both Zimmermann's broad interests and his achievements. In addition to his archival service and academic activity, it also contains the written results of his work.
The collection contains: biographical manuscripts; source references and excerpts; correspondence of Duke Friedrich Wilhelm; general life history until about 1806; internal conditions of the Duchy of Braunschweig; war year 1806; life story of Friedrich Wilhelm from 1806 to 1815; campaign in 1809; the Braunschweig troop corps; exile in England; return to Braunschweig and government of the country; death of Friedrich Wilhelm; fame and legacy of the Duke; illustrations. Of special interest is the collection on the subjects of the invitation to the inauguration of the synagogue in Wolfenbüttel (1893) and Israel Jacobsohn: excerpts, letters.
