- The collection contains documentation about civil and criminal trials. Jews were part of various proceedings.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The judiciary reform of 1823-25 divided the duchy into six court districts. The district courts were assigned the following functions: jurisdiction in all civil disputes in the first instance including the previously excluded items marriage and engagement, investigations in criminal matters (which, however, the regional court had to decide), investigation into police matters, administration of guardianship, keeping of mortgage records, administration and storage of judicial deposits.
