- Archival history:
- In 1864, in the course of a settlement between the ducal ministry of state and the city of Braunschweig with the participation of chamber registrar Knolle, the Braunschweig city archivist Ludwig Hänselmann and the Wolfenbüttel archivist Wilhelm Ehlers divided the holdings of the city registry between the city archives of Braunschweig and the provincial capital archives in Wolfenbüttel.
