- This collection contains documents regarding the establishment of a synagogue in Braunschweig by Alexander David; official duties of the chamber agent Israel Jacobson; Schutzjuden (protected Jews) in Melverode; birth certificates, including those of Jews.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- According to the 1548 rules of the chancellery of Duke Heinrich the Younger, the chancellery "presents itself as the main office for the government affairs of the sovereign and as the highest instance in judicial matters for subjects." It continued to retain jurisdiction alongside the princely court, with particular emphasis from 1584 onwards.
