The collection reflects the network of relationships of the Principality of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel with other principalities and small imperial cities. In addition to evidence of alliance policy and princely correspondence, a special focus is the records of the numerous commissions, which were commissioned by imperial order. Some of then were headed by the dukes of Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Wolfenbüttel to settle and end disputes in individual German territories. In addition to confessional differences, disagreements within the princely houses caused by pension entitlements and marriage disputes as well as between the sovereigns, corporate representations and cities are covered in the collection.
Of special interest are the files concerning the proof of financial damage of individuals to the imperial commission in East Frisia, including Jews.
