- Scope and content:
- This collection includes records relating to the following: Bishop Heinrich von Hildesheim leaves the Jews a piece of land in the Neustadt to use as a churchyard; Bishop Heinrich von Hildesheim promises the citizens in Dassel (Dasle), who gave him 100 Braunschweig marks to redeem the county of Dassel, that they should keep their property according to the rights as they possessed it under his predecessor Bishop Otto, and not to increase their taxes as long as the amount has not been paid back and the people of the bishop residing in front of the Solling range and the Jews in Dassel do not contribute to the 100 marks. Provost Volkmar, dean Dietrich, schoolmaster Otto and the cathedral chapter agree.
- Archival history:
- The parchment manuscript Cop. VI 01 was discovered in 1949 by the Hildesheim city archivist Dr. Rudolf Zoder on the Untergut (lower estate) of Wedemeyer in Eldagsen. It was acquired for the city archive and soon after transferred to the Hannover State Archives (see his report entitled "Ein Kopiar des Hildesheimer Domkapitels aufgefunden" ("A Cartulary of the Hildesheim Cathedral Chapter Discovered" in Alt-Hildesheim 22, 1951, p. 7-8). It is an issuing register for the years 1342 to 1355, in which were entered charters issued by the cathedral chapter or individual canons, by the Hildesheim bishop mostly with the consent of the chapter, in a few cases also by third parties. The manuscript featured old pagination in Roman numerals, with the numbers 16-69, 79, 81 and 82. Thus it is not fully preserved, individual sheets and layers are missing, and between sheets 54 and 55 an inscribed sheet has apparently been taken out early, at least before the sheet count was inserted. As a result, several entries are incomplete, they lack either the beginning or the end. Between sheets 50 and 51, an original charter of 1336 with a cut-out seal is inserted.
