- Administrative/biographical history:
- After the occupation of Hannover by allied troops and the collapse of the German Reich in 1945, the supreme German authority and point of contact for the military government in the territory of the Prussian province of Hannover initially reappeared to be the "Oberpräsident" (governor) - including the administration of the provincial association - after this office had been severely undermined by the Nazi administrative reforms of the preceding years, but had not been abolished. At the same time, the internal structure of the Oberpräsident initially remained in the form it had developed in the last years of the war.
