Of special interest to Jewish history are records relating to Dr. Walter Zirpins (senior civil servant and criminal councillor, born 26 May 1901), including investigations into alleged involvement in the killing of Jews in the Lodz Ghetto.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The current Hannover police authority (PD) was established between 1900 and 1903 as the royal Prussian police headquarters on Hardenbergstrasse near Waterlooplatz in Hannover. During World War II, it was only slightly damaged. With a view to the large police operation for EXPO 2000, the building of the PD Hannover was modernised and extended.
