- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Clausthal mining authority formed the supreme body of the mining administration based in Clausthal. The head of the Upper Harz administration, the mining governor, was in most cases elected from among legally trained chamber councillors who worked on the Upper Harz mining matters. He carried out his functions partly from Clausthal and partly from Hannover and was also the Hannover-appointed senior official in the Upper Harz communion mining authority in Zellerfeld (until 1788) and in the Lower Harz communion mining authority in Goslar.
