- Administrative/biographical history:
- The administrative district of Wennigsen was formed on 28 October 1817 by the "decree for the division of the previous administrative district of Calenberg into the two administrative districts of Calenberg and Wennigsen”. The administrative district of Calenberg retained the Hausvogtei [manorial bailiwick], the Rössinger bailiwick, the Adenser Gohe, the villages of Arnum and Lüdersen from the Pattenser Gohe as well as the cities of Pattensen and Eldagsen. The newly established administrative district of Wennigsen was given the Ronnenberg, Gehrdene, Bönnigsen and Goltern bailiwicks, as well as to the villages of Holtensen (near Bredenbeck), Evestorf and Argestorf, which were surrounded by the bailiwick of Bönnigsen. The villages of Barsinghausen and Altenhof (monastery district of Barsinghausen) were united with the administrative district of Wennigsen in 1849.
