- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Sulingen administrative district was mainly created by merger from the old administrative districts of Barenburg, Ehrenburg and Siedenburg. The administrative district of Barenburg was assimilated in the Ehrenburg administrative district as early as the 18th century. The administrative district of Sulingen was formed in 1852 from the administrative district of Siedenburg and parts of the administrative district of Ehrenburg-Barenburg. In 1859, parts of the rest of the administrative district of Ehrenburg were added to it.
