- Administrative/biographical history:
- The files in this inventory cover the territorial area created by the decree of 27 March 1859 on the districts of the lower administration and by the revised administrative regulations of 10 May 1859. This included the Hoya administrative district of Stolzenau (constituted in 1829 from the union of the older administrative districts of Stolzenau and Steyerberg) and the previous Calenberg administrative district of Rehburg with the monastic court estate of Loccum. The written material covers the period from the earliest written official record dating from the sixteenth century to the incorporation of the district of Stolzenau into the district of Nienburg in 1932. As part of the county of Hoya, the Stolzenau administrative district shared its eventful fate even after the end of the count's house in 1852, so that its history is best illustrated within the framework of Hoya's territorial development.
