- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Oldenstadt administrative district, which ceased to exist with the introduction of the district order on 1 April 1885 when it passed into the district of Uelzen, is a creation of the administrative reform of the 19th century. The basis was formed by the Bodenteich administrative district dating back to late medieval times, which had remained almost unchanged until the invasion of the French in 1803, and the administrative district of Oldenstadt.
