- Administrative/biographical history:
- The administrative district of Liebenburg, which was integrated into the administrative district of Goslar in 1885, was formed in 1859 from the Liebenburg administrative district, which had been reduced in 1852, and the Salzgitter administrative district separated from it in 1852. With the exception of some small details it kept its original territory.
